Community: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One

6. Vice Dean Robert Laybourne

Although he's only the Vice Dean to Dean Pelton's Dean, it's obvious who is actually in charge of Greendale from the moment we meet John Goodman's Robert Laybourne.

Laybourne runs Greendale's cult-like air conditioning repair school, the most profitable part of the college. After discovering Troy's natural talent for fixing air conditioners, Vice Dean Laybourne becomes obsessed with recruiting him for the AC repair school, much to Troy's dismay. Troy finally agrees to enroll in the AC repair school in order to save the study group and the Dean, but shortly after his enrollment, Vice Dean Laybourne is murdered by his colleague Murray. Troy hilariously avenges Laybourne by defeating Murray in an AC repair-off, during which Murray confesses to the murder, and Troy tells the school to behave "like a regular school."

Throughout his time on the show, Laybourne goes through various "phases." In one episode, he gets really into trains. In another, he grows his hair out and sports a goatee. Whatever Laybourne loves at the moment, the fans love (or love to hate) Laybourne.
