Halloween episodes of TV shows, even ones based in reality, often bear a supernatural ilk to them.
In the season two Halloween episode, things take a crazy turn when party-goers at Greendale consume infected army surplus rations and start to turn into mindless zombies.
Right out of the gates, the episode is memorable since the beloved characters are dressed in a variety of outfits fending off a zombie horde; but with Dean Pelton's ABBA playlist ringing through the speakers, there's something elevating about watching Troy in an Aliens mech-battle suit, punching his way through zombies while Mamma Mia plays.
The costumes are hilarious; Britta as a dinosaur, Dean Pelton as Lady Gaga, Chang as a figure skater and Troy's quick costume change as "Sexy Dracula" are to name a few.
The episode has fun with horror movie tropes too; the frustration of a jump scare cat becomes a priority to hunt down, the contemplation and logic of zombie-bite rules are played with constantly, and meta-man Abed helps Troy defeat the longstanding trope of black characters not surviving horror movies.
