Community: 15 Best Ever Episodes

7. Season 3 Episode 17 - Basic Lupine Urology

Community Epidemiology
NBC

Law & Order is a format that has been parodied and adopted across many comedic platforms, and when Community steps up to bat their own tale, it doesn't fail to surprise.

The inciting "murder" of the episode involves a sabotaged sweet potato the group was growing in their Biology class (it get's addressed). Knowing that the failed project will give them a low grade, the Study Group work to find out who could have done such a thing.

With members of the Study Group taking various roles you'd come to expect in an episode of Law & Order, what really shines is how seriously everyone besides Michael K. Williams and Michael Ironside take the preceding events.

The side-character moments are a great parody of Law & Order too; with nice-guy Todd being pinned as the prime suspect only to be saved at the last minute by a surprise twist on who, how and why their science project was sabotaged.

What makes this one of the best episodes is that despite being an interpretation/parody, the characters' personalities remain intact and their behaviors are consistent with any other episode; confirming that the cast of Community can be plunged into any parody and still feel appropriate.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
