3. Cast Change-ups
While I get no joy from the fact that Chevy Chase left, and in turn his character Pierce Hawthorne has been written out, I do like the prospect this gives the show. What's that? Well, what happens anytime a show loses a member of the lead cast? Bring in a new character! Lots of shows thrive on change, and while there's been instances of a new character ruining the show, there are also an abundance of cases where the replacement character was accepted, or even liked better than the one they were replacing! Examples: NCIS, when Ziva David replaced Kate Todd; M*A*S*H, when B.J. Hunnicutt replaced "Trapper" John McIntyre, and then two years later when Charles Winchester replaced Frank Burns. So while I for one will miss seeing Chevy Chase as Pierce Hawthorne, I'm excited by the possibilities this opens up for the show. And speaking of fundamental changes to Community...
