Community: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best

5. Annie Edison

Community Season 4 Halloween Special
NBC

Every sitcom has a slightly neurotic overachiever; Brooklyn Nine-Nine has Amy Santiago, Friends has Monica Gellar, and Community has Annie Edison. It's rare to find an ensemble show that doesn't have this archetype, as it's such a great tactic to keep the plot moving forward and can be an excellent source of comedy. Annie is a clear example of the type but adds enough to make it feel special.

Alison Brie did a fantastic job with Annie, as she took what could have been considered the shows most cliched character - a young and attractive hard worker - and turned her into a nuanced person. Annie was confident in herself, but also shockingly shameless at times, as her dramatic outbursts were always cringe-worthy, and she didn't care what people thought of her, so long as she got her A.

Overall, Annie was a fantastic character, and seeing her grow from a shy/neurotic teen to a confident/outspoken young woman was amazing. She only falls a few points behind because her comedy moments weren't as vibrant as the coming roles, and she did fall into her archetype's clichés a little too much at times.
