Community: Ranking Every Halloween Episode Worst To Best
3. Introduction To Statistics
Just because Introduction To Statistics is the least intense of the four Halloween specials, doesn't mean it's a bad episode. Coming early in Season 1, the usual hijinks haven't quite come into play yet as we focus on getting to know our main characters.
To absolutely no-one's surprise, Jeff isn't interested in attending the Halloween party Annie has organised but changes his mind after she gives a teary speech. The choice becomes even harder when he realises Professor Slater is down the hall at a "grown up" party where he could try and seduce her. Rather than usual Halloween spookiness, the conflict in this episode comes Jeff's realisation that he has responsibility to the people he's chosen to surround himself with, and he can't continue on with the selfish lifestyle he's been used to for so long.
Despite a slightly depressing lesson acting as the episode's core, the writers do what they do so well and offer up enough humour to balance it out.
Pierce and Starburns switching meds offers up some hilarious moments as Greendale's most 'experienced' student runs around dressed as Beastmaster and tripping out. Meanwhile, Abed patrols Greendale as Batman, staying vigilant, not sleeping and saving Jeff and Pierce from a mountain of falling tables.
