COMMUNITY Worryingly Absent From NBC Mid-Season Line-Up
It hasn’t been cancelled but many fans worry that this sudden waning of network interest is indicative of what’s to come for the fan-favourite sitcom.
Community is astonishingly Meta; its self and pop-culture referencing; its culturally diverse and most importantly, its properly funny. If you ask me its at least as hilarious as Modern Family (which is currently, and rightly so, mopping up ratings with its last episode seeing staggering figures upwards of 13 million on air night). Although with a meagre 3.84 million viewers, its nowhere near as heavy-hitting as it should be in terms of financial return for NBC. A couple of days ago, NBC announced their mid-season line-up and worryingly Community wasnt in it. It looks like its been shelved for now, to make room for 30 Rock, Whitney, Parks and Recreation and Up All Night, among others. It hasnt been cancelled, NBC assures us, but many fans worry that this sudden waning of network interest is indicative of whats to come for the fan-favourite sitcom. What the future holds for this innovative sitcom isnt entirely certain. American T.V networks have a habit of cancelling bold, exciting new shows in favour of the lowest common denominator (not always of course, but on too many occasions to have not been burned by it). Im positive that Im not the only person out there that hopes to god this isnt the case with Community.
