Constantine: 17 Easter Eggs And References You Need To See
9. The Helmet Of Fate
One of the more obvious shout-outs to that self same wider DC universe happens when Constantine takes Liv to the compound her father had previously been holed up in, which is home to countless mystical artefacts/Easter eggs for comic geeks to get excited about. As featured in trailers for the show, she picks up a big golden helmet which John warns her is incredibly powerful and not to be trifled with. He's not kidding, either: anybody who sticks that rust bucket on their bonce takes on the responsibility of keeping the balance between order and chaos in the universe. Not that they're alone in that fight, since taking the mantle on imbues them with god-like magical abilities. Yes, that's the helmet of Doctor Fate, a DC hero whose title has been passed on through numerous different characters over the years. The original Fate served as a member of the Justice Society of America (a precursor of the Justice League), who was a powerful sorcerer in his own right before gaining the enchanted helmet, amulet and cloak that come with the job. For a little while a monkey held it. Please say Detective Chimp will be in Constantine.
