Crisis On Infinite Earths Finale Review: 9 Ups & 2 Downs From Parts 4 And 5
1. Earth-2 Laurel Lance's Absence
As wonderful as it was to see Katie Cassidy reprise her role as Arrow's leading lady Earth-1 Laurel Lance (and we'll get to that shortly), us viewers couldn't help but feel short-changed that Cassidy's current character, Earth-2's Laurel Lance/Black Canary, remained inexplicably absent from the entire crossover.
Now, we could justifiably go down to the route of how she has become the MVP of Arrow's final season, but we're not going to simply because there's a much more infuriating discrepancy at fault here.
Laurel's entire arc this season has been built around the Crisis. She witnessed the destruction of Earth-2 firsthand and, as a result, lost her entire home and everyone she ever loved. This single-handedly drove her arc forward and ultimately allowed the former Black Siren to complete that redemptive arc she'd been on for the last two years.
To randomly not feature the iconic Black Canary is baffling enough, but to blatantly disregard a character as integral to the Crisis' arc as her while other less important characters like Mia, Wild Dog and goodness knows who else showed up for nothing more than manpower is simply ludicrous.
Do better, Arrow.
Now, for the positives...
