Curb Your Enthusiasm: 10 Moments Where Larry David Was Right

10. The Doctors€™ Waiting Room Policy €“ (S1, Ep 5)

Interior Decorator 1024The Context: Larry has a doctor€™s appointment for 11.30. He kindly holds the elevator for a young girl who has an 11.45 appointment, and because she is in front of him leaving the elevator, she signs in first, leading to her being seen before him. The Issue: The doctors€™ practice needs to choose and stick to one form of waiting room policy. Either you make an appointment and they see people by the schedule, or it is first come first serve, not both as in this case! Larry is absolutely right to feel disgruntled by his 40 minute wait, when his appointment was fifteen minutes before hers and he signed in seconds after her. Where Larry€™s credibility perhaps crumbles is when he shouts at the young girl for what happened. She did nothing, it wasn€™t her fault they called her in first. Of course, when Larry returns later on in the episode, the policy has changed to what Larry wanted, but it works against him yet again, proving that sometimes you€™ve just got to call it quits and give up when the world is against you.
