Cursed Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. It's Packed With Fan Service & Surprises

Cursed Monk
Netflix

Without delving into any spoilers, the marketing for Cursed has been impressively restrained in terms of not giving away any of the show's more unexpected happenings and reveals.

Across its ten episodes, the show unfurls a number of surprising twists and turns, especially with regard to introducing members of the Arthurian roster fans will most certainly be expecting to see.

Again, the decisions made won't entirely work for all fans, but seeing some of King Arthur's major allies and foes reinvented so radically here ensures the table is set for a potentially superior season two - assuming that happens, of course.

If there isn't much terribly surprising about the basic aspects of Nimue's journey - the show unnecessarily opens in media res, after all - the wider tableau is far keener to skirt clear of viewer expectations.
