4. Spider-Man (Mile Morales)
Though Marvel has confirmed their interest in Spider-Man lies more with his first incarnation, some of us are getting a little weary of young Mr. Parker: three reboots in less than a decade and a half is enough to take the gloss out of any character. That being said, there's never been a better time to break out his Ultimate Fallout counterpart. The source of his powers may be the same as his predecessors (radioactive spider bite, yadda yadda yadda), but Miles Morales is way less cocksure. It's only after Peter Parker falls victim to the Green Goblin that Miles assumes the Spider-Man mantle, and not everyone is too keen on the idea: many of his fellow heroes think it's in poor taste. While there was some backlash to Miles' "casting" that the character was apparently inspired Barack Obama certainly didn't depoliticize the situation he's a fully grounded figure with his own unique fears and anxieties; where Peter had Uncle Ben, Miles' Uncle Aaron is a career criminal with the moniker Prowler. If they can do it for The Flash, why not Spider-Man?
