2. He Looks Like Frank Castle
It's not necessarily important for an actor cast to play a comic book character necessarily looks like the one you see on the page. For one thing, being drawn by dozens of different artists over a period of years means that there's rarely one set look for a mainstream comic character. For another, well, only racists didn't want Idris Elba as Heimdall. Saying Jon Bernthal looks like Frank Castle doesn't necessarily mean he's a dead ringer for The Punisher seen in the comics thankfully he's a lot prettier than Steve Dillon's, although he's definitely a look-a-like for how Tim Bradstreet renders the character but that he looks like the sort of guy Frank Castle would be in real life. Which is to say, he's got the tough-but-troubled look that has seen him cast in roles of that nature through most of his career. He can bulk up, as shown by his Walking Dead regimen, and he suits the crew-cut army look The Punisher tends to rock. He's the right build, he can do the thousand-yard-stare, he can kick ass. He's Frank Castle.
