Daredevil: 10 Reasons Jon Bernthal Is Perfect For The Punisher
3. He's The Right Level Of Famous
So far, Daredevil has stuck to a fairly standard level of casting. Somewhere between other Netflix original series Grace & Frankie has legit stars like Jane Fonda and Martin Sheen, whilst Orange Is The New Black's cast is made up of ohhhh, they seem familiar... sorts it's mainly drawn on actors that are semi-well-known, but not household names. An especially strong piece of criteria is that the actors be somewhat recognisable to fans of genre films and TV, what with Stardust's Charlie Cox, True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll and Men In Black's Vincent D'Onofrio all figured into the main cast for the first season. Makes sense they'd follow a similar tack for The Punisher. And in that case, Jon Bernthal fits both criteria absolutely perfectly. He's appeared in his fair share of films and TV up to this point including Gangster Squad and The Wolf Of Wall Street but he's not so famous as to be beyond the show's reach, or be distractingly well-known. Plus, y'know, he has a lot of fans from The Walking Dead.
