Daredevil: 10 Reasons Jon Bernthal Is Perfect For The Punisher

7. He's Been A Foil For The Good Guy Before

The broken nose thing came up in a discussion over Bernthal's role in The Walking Dead, where he stated it was important for his €œcharacter to be a physical threat to€ hero Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln from Love, Actually. Even before he got all buff and properly evil, though, Shane was a key role on AMC's zombie series. Before he tipped over into be a complete villain, Shane existed simply as an alternative to Rick: both wanted to do the right thing, they just had different ideas of what €œthe right€ thing entailed, and how to achieve it. Which is pretty much the same relationship between The Punisher and Daredevil, who are both crimefighters in their own way. Whilst the Man Without Fear has been shown to go to some extreme lengths to enact justice in the show's first season, for the most part he draws the line at killing. Frank Castle has no such qualms, and seeing the two of them come to blows is going to be really interesting. Bernthal's proven he can play a character walking that shaky moral line before.
