9. Nobu Dies... For Real This Time
The further exploration of the relationship between Matt Murdock and his estranged mentor, Stick, was one of this season's most surprising elements. Not for the wrong reasons mind you, but quite the opposite. Matt may still resent his adoptive father's more extreme methods, but the episodes that focused on them both were some of season 2's brightest moments. However, I digress, as it's not the warm exchanges of respect the two share that really held the best for Stick. He's an absolutely incredible fighter and tactician, and after seeing Nobu get resurrected one time too many, he finishes the job in a manner no immortal ninja could ever hope to recover from. It was a fairly appropriate end for a character that had wrought so much grief upon Hell's Kitchen, and one that only Stick himself could carry out. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
