Daredevil Season 2: 10 Things That Must Happen
5. Matt Murdock/Daredevil Is Outed In The Media
Underboss isn't the only critically lauded story arc in Bendis and Maleev's epic run. In fact, Out, which directly followed Underboss, is a modern classic in it's own right and an adaptation would fit in well with the tone of the TV show.
At the conclusion of Underboss, the slippery Mr Silke turns himself in to the FBI in exchange for protective custody, but he has to give them something in return. Naturally, he spills the beans on the biggest secret he knows: that Matt Murdock is the legendary Daredevil. One of the FBI agents then sells the story to a tabloid newspaper, and Murdock's life proceeds to fall apart in intricate and excruciating detail.
Like a lot of Bendis and Maleev's run, Out is fairly light on superheroics but more than makes up for that with gripping crime drama. It truly treats the situation as if it were real and this is something that the TV show accomplished so perfectly as well.
What would really happen if a practising lawyer was revealed to be a costumed vigilante who had lied under oath about his identity as Daredevil? Well, he'd face jail time and the integrity of every criminal case he'd ever worked on would be called into question.
Speaking of Matt Murdock facing jail time...
