Daredevil Season 2: 10 Things That Must Happen
6. Underboss
Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev's run on Daredevil, which lasted from 2001 to 2006, was one of the main influences on the creative minds behind the Daredevil TV show. Alongside Frank Miller's work in the 1980's (the other key influence), elements of their noir take on superheroes can be seen in nearly every single episode of Daredevil.
Underboss, their first and perhaps best story, opened with a young gangster named Mr Silke conspiring with Kingpin's men to turn on him and stab him to death (a la Julius Caesar, who Silke of course waxed lyrical about as his cronies attempted to kill their former master). Kingpin survived and, of course, exacted his revenge on Silke and this is why the storyline is ripe for adaptation into the show.
All the way through season one, Wilson Fisk's grip on his criminal organisation is shown slipping away from him, all while his personal life improves as he falls in love with art dealer Vanessa. In the end, he accepts his role as the bad guy, but along the way he has poisoned all his professional relationships.
It's not too much of a stretch to imagine that one of these disgruntled criminals takes it upon themselves to overthrow Fisk in a future season, and this would be a perfect time to introduce Mr Silke.
