Daredevil Season 3: 10 Ways To Make The Perfect Born Again Adaptation
10. Don't Adapt The Comic Beat For Beat
Whilst this might sound a tad antithetical to the concept of making a 'perfect' adaptation of Miller's work, there are certain realities that Daredevil's showrunners have to navigate.
There are large swathes of Born Again that simply cannot be adapted for live action, on the small screen or otherwise. And while the MCU does offer potential avenues for cross-pollination between Netflix and Marvel Studios' blockbusters, the likelihood remains that Daredevil is never going to get to tassel with the Avengers, even if it would make sense in some respects.
In the context of Born Again, wider involvement from The Avengers is a key element in the story, and Captain America in particular has an important part to play in the book's closing act. While it would be wise to bank on Chris Evans literally never, ever throwing his mighty shield in a Netflix context, particularly one as gritty as Daredevil's, as a rule of thumb, the same rule should apply if Born Again gets the nod later down the line. Even if it would be amazing to see Cap in that environment, a Born Again adaptation need only transplant certain elements of the comic to live action; Cap's presence, while welcome, is surplus to the book's requirements.
Besides, if we were to get any Avenger in a series of Daredevil, it'd have to be Black Widow, seeing how the two have such a key relationship in the comics.
