Although The Defenders failed to deliver on its promise of an entertaining street-level ensemble, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock managed to emerge from the series with his head held high.

Well, not literally, as he was crushed underneath some rubble - but you get the picture.

Unfortunately, it looks as though Matt's last rendezvous with The Hand and Elektra has had quite the affect on his own wellbeing, with the first Season 3 teaser having ended with the character saying he'd "rather die as the devil, than live as Matt Murdock". As of now it's unclear where this scene takes place, but if it comes following Fisk's targeting of Matt and his allies, it would contribute to the growing list of evidence that Born Again is a guiding influence for the show's overarching narrative.

Either that, or Matt has taken this near-death experience close to heart and has gone full vigilante. Fortunately, DD fans can rest assured that Matt will probably get over this slump by the end of the season. After all, what's a superhero without his alter-ego?
