Darren Aronofsky To Direct HBO's Magic & Nazi's Pilot HOBGOBLIN

Black Swan's Darren Aronofsky will make his television directorial debut with Hobgoblin, HBO's new pilot about €œa group of con men and magicians who use their skills of deception to help defeat Hitler and the Germans during World War II.€ Ok, I'm ridiculously hooked already. Created by novelists Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, The Yiddish Policeman's Union - two movies adaptations the Coen Brothers should make right now!) and his wife Ayelet Waldman (wrote the book recently adapted into the Natalie Portman vehicle The Other Woman), Variety says Aronofsky will direct the pilot for the proposed on-going series and may even cast-up the show. I love alternative history stories, especially those involving World War II (see Inglourious Basterds) but equally so I'm hooked on stories of magic and wonder. With the talent behind this, why even bother with a pilot - they should just go straight to series! Chabon's film credits include the upcoming John Carter and Spider-Man 2. Meanwhile Aronofsky is setting up his Noah's Ark epic which looks like it might star Christian Bale.
