DC: Ranking Every Upcoming Movie & TV Show By Anticipation

1. The Batman

At this point, the best thing about the DCEU - and the most promising going forward - is Ben Affleck's Batman. Coming a long way from the internet outrage that greeted his casting, Affleck's establishing an excellent take on an older, wearier Bruce Wayne/Batman.

This is a Batman with a lot of history behind him, and getting to know him better has a lot of promise. Not only is Affleck clearly capable in the role, with the scope to get better, but he's also directing it - which is where his true talent lies. Add in a script co-written by him and Geoff Johns, and you're getting the pieces together for the best DCEU film, period.

I'm not completely sold on Deathstroke as the villain - there are a number of choices I think would've made better candidates, particularly for this iteration of Bats - but it's hardly a bad move. The Batman - which isn't official yet, but it's better than repeatedly saying 'Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie' - is an entry that will work being dark and grounded and violent (an R rating is unlikely, but just imagine!), and much like the Batman he portrays, Affleck - as actor, director, and writer - should kill it.

Release Date: TBA, but the mystery October 5, 2018 slot is a good shout.
