DC Vs Marvel: Who Is Winning The Superhero TV War?

3. The Birth Of The Defenders: Daredevil On Netflix

With the Arrow / The Flash juggernaut - and another spin-off to follow - it has been looking like a one-side battle with DC succeeding over Marvel on the superhero TV front. But this year things have started to change. Agent Carter became a critical success, Agents Of SHIELD got a lot better and now the deal between Marvel and Netflix has started to pay dividends. The arrival of Daredevil has been modern-Marvel's first true superhero TV show and a magnificent one at that. Darker, grittier and more violent that what the MCU has done before, Daredevil has been a breathe of fresh air, a show that has the confidence - and platform - to differ from its big-screen counterparts. It is also worth noting that Vincent D'Onofrio's Daredevil produced the finest villain in the MCU since Loki. The success of Daredevil has spurned a second season in 2016, which will introduce another major Marvel character; The Punisher. Not only that, Netflix will have Jessica Jones by the end of the year, Luke Cage and Iron Fist after that before they all team up with Daredevil for The Defenders. If Agent Carter and Agents Of SHIELD have delivered something fresh to the superhero genre, then Daredevil and its Netflix companions will bring a whole host of new superheroes to the small screen in the next couple of years. With that schedule, Marvel can finally complete with the many heroes of the Arrow-verse.
