DC Vs Marvel: Who Is Winning The Superhero TV War?
2. The Future for DC: Legends Of Tomorrow And Supergirl
Greg Berlanti, one of the masterminds behind Arrow and The Flash, is certainly not resting on his laurels. Not only is a second spin-off in development, but he is also working on another DC TV show for CBS. It shows a confidence and passion to bring these characters to screen in a way that DC is only just struggling to put together on film. Legends Of Tomorrow in one of the most exciting superhero shows in development; a time travel action show, spinning off from Arrow and The Flash - and featuring both lead heroes in what looks set to be the pilot episode - all while utilising one of the big bads of the DC universe, Vandal Savage. Using an established mix heroes and villains from the original two shows, Atom, White Canary, Captain, Cold, Heat Wave, Firestorm and bringing in fresh heroes Hawkgirl, Jay Jackson and Rip Hunter this could be more epic and dare we saw it more fun than The Flash. Supergirl meanwhile while exist on another network and apparently have some reference to the man of steel itself, though Kara will be the central figure. It continues the brand of fun, almost kooky lead superheroes and demonstrates DC's determination to go bigger and bolder in its TV and film products. There is no word yet whether it will tie into the world of Arrow, but that might happen, making DC's TV superheroes a juggernaut on television as well as film.
A writer for Whatculture since May 2013, I also write for TheRichest.com and am the TV editor and writer for Thedigitalfix.com . I wrote two plays for the Greater Manchester Horror Fringe in 2013, the first an adaption of Simon Clark's 'Swallowing A Dirty Seed' and my own original sci-fi horror play 'Centurion', which had an 8/10* review from Starburst magazine! (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/eventsupcoming-genre-events/6960-event-review-centurion) I also wrote an episode for online comedy series Supermarket Matters in 2012. I aim to achieve my goal for writing for television (and get my novels published) but in the meantime I'll continue to write about those TV shows I love!
