DC's Legends Of Tomorrow Season 4 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

2. Zari Has Been Erased

The biggest talking point of the season finale was undoubtedly Zari's sacrifice, as the veteran Legend was erased from the timeline in order to let her brother, Behrad (who had been killed by A.R.G.U.S. in 2042) live.

If you found yourself getting lost in all the time-travel jargon and can't quite understand how this all came to be, well then you're probably not alone. The fact of the matter is that Nate's creation of Heyworld changed the timeline and, in doing so, provided Zari with the loophole that her own device had spent the past two years searching for.

According to Gideon, the positivity of the theme-park would go on change people's views on magical creatures, essentially wiping Zari's dystopian future from existence - saving her brother's life in the process. Unfortunately, this change came at a cost as this version of Zari ceased to exist altogether, paving the way for a timeline which she was never a part of. The question is: What does this mean going forward?

Speaking to TV Guide, Legends' executive producer Phil Klemmer confirmed that while actress Tala Ashe would be returning next season, she will likely be portraying a very different Zari - one that never became the badass superhero that we love.

With that in mind, the finale did actually leave us on a note that made it incredibly easy to bring the new timeline's iteration of Zari into the fold, and it's all down to the debut of a certain character...
