DC's Titans: 9 Reasons It's Already A Dud

1. Clint Mansell's Surprisingly Forgettable Musical Score

Fans were justifiably excited when it was announced that the brilliant Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, Mass Effect 3, Black Mirror) would be co-composing Titans' musical score with Kevin Kiner, so disappointing it is that the music in episode one feels so damn workmanlike and, yes, generic.

Sure, the series' theme tune is decent enough and easily the most Mansell-esque thing here, but otherwise all of the incidental music sounds like it was cranked out by any hack composer with no real ideas of their own.

It's not exactly clear quite how much involvement Mansell will have with the week-to-week music, but from what's on offer in the premiere, one suspects most of the work's been left to either Kiner or uncredited studio musicians.

It's not good at all, and considering the potential for each of the four heroes to have their own recognisable themes, the music instead feels shockingly lacking in personality.
