The Defenders TV Show: 8 Supporting Characters We Want To See

5. Ben Urich

Popular for his appearances in both Spider-Man and Daredevil, Ben Urich too has suffered from his appearance in 2003's letdown film adaptation of Daredevil. Like Elektra, it's time we give the man a second chance to make his way into the Marvel cinematic universe. Ben is an investigative journalist that works for the Daily Bugle and easily fits into the "hard-as-nails" character archetype. He used his investigate skills to properly deduce Dardevil's true identity -€“Matt Murdock €“ and has since been a source of information for the character. Ben Urich is the very definition of a supporting character and would continue to support not only Daredevil but the rest of the characters as they make their way from individual superheroes into the team known as the Defenders. Every team needs someone on the outside and this character usually tends to be powerless yet quite powerful in all the ways that matter. Urich's connections to the Bugle and the criminal underworld €“ as well as his connection to Daredevil €“ make him the perfect supporting character for the team. What may be even more interesting would be if Marvel decides to connect the Defenders to the greater cinematic scheme. Doing so would possibly allow for Ben Urich to extend his appearance to a supporting character for Spider-Man as well; this would allow for the Defenders to extend their reach into the larger areas of the Marvel universe.
