The Defenders TV Show: 8 Supporting Characters We Want To See

4. Purple Man

Longtime foe of Daredevil and more recently an enemy of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, Zebediah Killgrave has deep issues with most of the starring cast. With the power to subdue the wills of others and persuade them into doing whatever he asks, the Purple Man is a serious threat that is escalated by his own lack of morals. He has used his abilities to further his career as a criminal and indulge in twisted pleasures including the rape of multiple women. Jessica Jones herself was once a victim of Killgrave's powers and was used by him in an assassination plot against Daredevil. Furthermore, he has caused even more friction with her and husband Cage by threatening their then unborn child, leading Cage to attack Killgrave violently. Due to this history he shares with three fourths of the Defenders €“ as well as his extreme ruthlessness and complete disregard for everything that is right and good €“ Zebediah Killgrave would make the perfect villain for the series. As Magneto has become to the X-Men or Loki to Thor and the Avengers, the Purple Man would be to the Defenders. Pick up Jessica Jones' debut series Alias circa 2000 and you'll understand why Killgrave is the only villain to be featured on this list. He could easily be the big baddie that ties Daredevil and Jones together and eventually unites the Defenders. Zebediah Killgrave is pure filth and for this reason alone he deserves to be introduced to the Marvel cinematic universe.
