The Defenders TV Show: 8 Supporting Characters We Want To See

3. Doctor Strange

One of Marvel's oldest €“ and once most powerful €“ characters, Doctor Stephen Strange has the magic to make the Defenders series amazing. Despite receiving little to no recognition outside of comics, Doctor Strange has always been one of the most appealing characters to me. When I think of magic in the Marvel Universe, Strange is the first man to come to mind and for good reason. Doctor Strange isn't called the Sorcerer Supreme for nothing. Strange is most notably a solo player often teaming up with various characters for different purposes, but one team the man is known for belonging to is the Defenders. While this onscreen team would certainly consist of something very different, throwing Doctor Strange into the mix would surely up the cool factor. The character has ties to some of the coolest mystical villains in the Marvel universe including Nightmare and Dormammu which could make for great stories. If anything else, including Doctor Strange as a supporting character could mean that the Defenders is used as a gateway into eventually giving Strange either his own television series or film to tell his origins and showcase his power and rise to the title of the Sorcerer Supreme. Many argue that Strange isn't in need of such a spotlight but the character has far more personality than Thor, a richer history than Hulk, and far more interesting powers than any of the current Avengers seen on film.
