Dexter: 8 Loose Ends That Season 8 Probably Won’t Tie Up

3. The Effect Dexter€™s Actions Have On Miami Metro

This is one that I really hope I€™m wrong about. But when we get to the final scene and Dexter is either dead, incarcerated or (God-forbid) hiding out having survived his last ordeal, chances are there won€™t be time to reflect on the consequences of his actions. This is a problem that runs deep into the heart of the show. Breaking Bad addressed the consequences of Walt€™s actions by weaving in the distress he indirectly causes for those close to him from episode one. But Dexter has been very thin with this aspect. Very few major consequences have arisen from his actions. Sure, we lost Doakes, Rita and LaGuerta. But really, for a show about a serial killer, how is most of the supporting cast still standing all this time later? Even worse, why are most of their problems completely personal and non-related to Dexter€™s story arc? In reality, Dexter poses a lot of troubling moral implications. And I doubt that these will ever be addressed. I would love to see the scenes where Quinn realises he was right about Dexter all those years ago or when Batista and Masuka exchange horrified looks in the wake of the revelation. Let alone the possibility of seeing the media shit storm they will all surely face. In reality we€™ll probably be lucky to see much more than one scene of reaction shots.
