Dexter: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
10. Hannah McKay
Dexter's final love interest has some skeletons in the closet. Accomplice to a spree killer during her adolescence, she's gradually become a master poisoner. Matching Dexter's all important code, he targets her as his new victim under the guise of wanting to be her boyfriend. What follows is one of the more polarising scenes in the series. Taped to the table, Hannah seems surprisingly accepting of her fate. Instead of execution, however, Dexter decides lovemaking is the way to go and the 2 get it on right there.
The chemistry between actors Michael C. Hall and Yhvonne Strahovski sizzles nicely throughout her appearances. Strahovski brings a dark charisma to the role that fits like a glove.
The issues with Hannah as a character lie mostly in her season 8 arc. Her rich, old English husband is an implausible, uninteresting storyline that bogs down the show. There's also her surprise return to poison the Morgan siblings only to ditch Dexter on the city outskirts and move on. It made the whole cliffhanger feel like a cheap ratings grab in the end.
Giving Dexter a love interest who understood his dark passenger was an intriguing concept but one that had already been done in season 2 with Lila. Saner and more calculated than her predecessor, Hannah provides some interesting points (particularly her blood feud with Debra) but is ultimately undone by uneven scripting.
