5. Season Six
When people talk about the worst seasons of Dexter they often cite season six and in all honestly, this baffles me. Whilst it might not hold up to the superior ones it was certainly entertaining and in my opinion the ending of this season was even more shocking than that of season four. What made this season so enjoyable for me was The Doomsday Killer and his graphic murders. Colin Hanks has been received quite negatively by many of the Dexter faithful but I found him to be a thoroughly enjoyable antagonist. His most memorable moment of course being when he killed his sister and made her look like the Whore of Babylon, one of the most chilling moments in the shows history. The show had other positives as well; whilst the Nebraska episode annoyed a lot of people I actually found it wickedly funny and thought it made a welcome change. The school reunion episode also offered some funny moments, Dexters hammer time dance being a particular highlight.
