Dexter Season 8: 5 Reasons It's Been Disappointing So Far

1. No Threat

dexter_2 Even if you€™ve never seen Dexter before, if someone told you this was the last season of a show about a serial killer you€™d probably expect him to be under some pressure concerning his potential capture. But what€™s that? It appears he€™s much freer this season than he has been in the previous seven? My biggest issue with Dexter season eight so far is that I feel he is under no pressure whatsoever. He has a sister who gets angry at him an awful lot and a child who realised he has lied about a stuffed dog but other than that, he€™s in the clear. Granted he has a woman who could double cross him at any second but has that been given any adequate build up whatsoever? At the end of last season LaGuerta was hot on Dexter€™s trail and made that very public, all of a sudden she€™s been bumped off suspiciously in a shipping container alongside the man who killed Dexter€™s mom and nobody has even given it a second thought? The show has six episodes left to run and in these six episodes there needs to be a legitimate threat to Dexter€™s freedom. Whether it€™s someone putting the pieces together, someone catching him in the act or him leaving a bit of evidence in a fit of rage. At the start of the series it looked as though Dexter was going to start getting sloppy, six episodes in and his mental state is better than ever and he appears to be back to his usual ways. Conclusion Dexter has six episodes left of its eight season run time and I€™m really hoping they can bring this programme to a satisfying conclusion. The return of Hannah McKay at the end of the most recent episode could be an indication of things to come and hopefully her past with Dexter will begin to catch up on him. All that has happened so far this season is Dexter has effectively managed to build himself a team of behind the scenes workers who help him out with his work, including his own little €˜intern€™ who he now looks set to train in the ways of killing and deception. Everything€™s going pretty rosy so far, here€™s hoping there€™s a huge sting in the tale coming in the next two weeks, otherwise I feel all the show€™s hard work could be slowly undone over the last few episodes.
