2. Visiting Steamland
As well as showing us Odval's clear knowledge of Steamland, we got to see Steamland itself in all its glory. Though we only stayed there for a very brief time, it was one of the highlights of the season.
Yes, it might have been a little bit spoiled by the trailer, but it was still wonderful to see it in the show for real. Disenchantment always has a palete bursting with colour and extremely vivid backgrounds, so seeing those sensibilities transported to a completely new setting was a joy to behold.
More than just the beauty of it though, Steamland has kicked the show's mythology wide open. No longer just a fantasy show with fairly typical tropes interspliced with humour, the show is now part of a much larger universe. With other Kingdoms in the mix too, the possibilities are literally endless, with the show leaving itself lots of room to grow in Season Two.
The only complaint you might have is that it's so fleeting. We essentially walked through the town, saw a couple of interactions, then were whisked off to Dreamland again. Having said that, we likely haven't seen the last of it.
