Doctor Who: 10 Alien Worlds That Need To Be Revisited
4. Ribos - The Ribos Operation
Ah, Ribos...a planet briefly visited during the underrated Key to Time series. Ribos was a somewhat primitive planet (probably at the same level as England during the medieval period) with very interesting physical attributes. Because of the planet's elliptical orbit, it really only experienced two extreme seasons, known as Icetime and Suntime. Both would last for a period of just over 30 years, and were believed to have occurred because of a great battle between the Ice Gods and the Sun Gods. While the planet is owned by a mining operation that works throughout the galaxy, the inhabitants of Ribos seem largely ignorant of life beyond their own planet. The Ribos Operation is a perfect example of how to do a story involving a less-developed society without necessarily needing to have it set on Earth. It would be a lot of fun to have to Doctor revisit the planet, to see where they are now in terms of cultural evolution.
