For the first time since she joined the series, Deep Breath is really Clara's episode as we see her adjust to her best friend changing his face and becoming a completely new man. Due to the new Doctor being so different from Matt Smith's silly professor, by the end of the episode she is still not sure of Doctor number Twelve (or thirteen. Or fourteen...). That is until the Eleventh Doctor himself gives her a ring. On one hand, this is a pure fan-pleasing moment and a hangover from the 50th anniversary year which featured surprise Doctors popping up left, right and centre, but on the other it is a valid 'handing-over-of-the-baton' moment between the show's leading men, done in a very original fashion. This scene features so highly on our list as it is a hugely poignant and important moment that tells Clara - and any wavering viewers - that this new, perhaps scarier, man is the same person underneath it all. 'Just see me,' the (Twelfth) Doctor tells Clara, and thanks to this phone call, we do and can properly start our adventures with this new man, the Doctor. The one and only.
