Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Cop Out Endings

10. Love and Monsters

Famously disliked by nearly every people that's ever watched the show, 'Love and Monsters' featured Peter Kay dressed as an alien, and implied sexual encounters between that bloke from Hustle and a paving slab. Okay, the episode's really not that bad; it had its flaws without doubt, but it was well set-up and an interesting insight into a world of people all searching for the Doctor. The ending though seems just a bit rushed; the Doctor shows up, and says he won't help Elton from certain alien doom. Rose has a go at him for hurting her mum - something that he really didn't mean to do, by the way - and the Doctor just stands by for this, before telling the victims of the Absorbaloff that they should pull in different directions to destroy the beast. It's quite a message - you don't need a hero, you can kill aliens all by yourself - but it comes a little too late, given that all but one of LINDA are dead by that point. And instead of saving Elton's love Ursula completely, the Doctor sonics her into the pavement. Elton sort of gets a happy ending, out of nowhere with what's left, and let's face it, that's not a lot. But if you're happy dating a paving slab, it's great.
