Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Cop Out Endings

9. Boom Town

Another Russell T Davies episode, 'Boom Town' features another big, green, rubbery alien in the shape of the Slitheen. It's an interesting balance for the most part in which the Ninth Doctor is faced with a killer; the conversations they have are fascinating, and the acting is brilliant. But towards the end, Margaret Blaine reveals herself to still be a villain; no surprise there, as she takes Rose as her hostage, and starts to demand rights. But then suddenly, the heart of the TARDIS opens. Margaret is transformed into an egg, and given the opportunity to live her life over again. And whilst it's debatable where this light is actually coming from - isn't the heart of the TARDIS the Eye of Harmony? - that's not the main gripe of this ending. Both Margaret and the Doctor seem to be going somewhere, coming to terms with their pasts, and then we're given the moral that it's okay, you can just reverse time in Doctor Who. It might set up 'Bad Wolf' well, but some kind of prior warning would've been nice.
