Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Problems With The Matt Smith Era
10. Hide
Hide starts off as a very interesting ghost story but in typical Doctor Who fashion shifts genre half way through. This is always a welcome story telling device but it can leave the first half seeming non-sensical if the latter half doesnt fit. We find out in the episode that the screaming ghost is in fact a time-traveller trapped in a pocket universe. Time travelled at a different rate so that although it lasted for the life time of our universe (or at least Earth) it only existed for minutes within. If time travels at a different rate, and in this case slower on our end, who wrote Help Me on the wall? What was the big black circle that cracked and was never explained? And, if the time traveller was locked in a pocket universe how was she able to scream? Do sound waves magically transfer from a pocket universe and shorten their wavelength so you can hear it as a scream? The weird looking creature was another fun addition that made no sense. How did it get into the pocket universe? How did its partner get to Pendeghast Hall at that exact time? Are they supposed to be able to naturally travel in time and space? Fun episode that falls apart as soon as you think about it.
I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
