Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Problems With The Matt Smith Era

9. River Song In The Big Bang

River Song is the daughter of Rory and Amy, she was conceived in the TARDIS yet in this newly minted universe the Doctor, and by extension the TARDIS, doesn€™t exist. There was no Doctor, no raggedy man, no Mel to show Amy she should be with Rory and certainly no daughter of theirs being born in the TARDIS. Also, the time war would have gone on and wiped out all of time and space. She wouldn€™t have existed and, even if she did somehow, how did she manage to travel in time to Earth just in time to get to their wedding? Even if you assume that the Time War etc would have been a non-issue you€™re still talking about a universe without the Doctor which should, at the very least, have meant The Christmas invasion was never repelled or that the Daleks or Cybermen would have taken over Earth. But ignoring the wider implications the more localised issue of River Song being there doesn€™t make sense.
