Doctor Who: 10 Irritating Nu-Who Trends That Need To Die

9. Stopping The Bad Guys By Reputation Alone In the closing scenes of Forest of the Dead, the 10th Doctor stops the Vashta Nerada by basically telling them who he is and saying, 'Don't make me put my shoes on and come down there.' This was a cute conceit and, it must be acknowledged, a heck of a time saver when it came to defeating the bad guys and wrapping the story up. Plus it was clever and hadn't been done before, so by and large it was a nice little moment. Then the Eleventh Hour happened and he stopped the Atraxi by doing the exact same thing. Then the Pandorica Opened and he stopped all the aliens involved from attacking by doing the exact same thing. OK. We get it. The Doctor has put in a fair amount of leg work and has some significant street cred amongst the bad-guy set. It was clever once, now it's just lazy scripting.
