2. The Myrka - Warriors Of The Deep (1984)

Once again, I hate to slam Classic Who on the basis of its visuals but the Myrka (a marine creature used by the Silurians and Sea Devils to break through the defences of an underwater base) just looks pathetic. It looks like somebody pinched the horse costume from a local pantomime and spray painted it green And it looking like a reptilian panto horse is made worse by the fact that it was performed by the men who played Dobbin the horse in children's comedy Rentaghost, giving it a slow, badly coordinated gait that really drags down its already disappointing role as an organic battering ram. Though nothing involving it can look stupider than the scene where it has what is essentially a very brief karate fight with one of the human characters. The Myrka was a lumbering and badly designed embarrassment which topped off a story that was a visual disaster thanks to a lot of production problems, including the costume for the Myrka being completed an hour before it was required on set, causing the still wet paint to rub off on the sets and costumes. Its has a well deserved place in the Doctor Who pantheon of stupidity and has become a byword for some of the more badly realised ideas of 80s Who.
