Doctor Who: 10 Moments When The Fans Were Represented In The Show

1. The Children In The Eleventh Doctor's Era

Steven Moffat has never forgotten the importance of Doctor Who being a children's show. Whilst it would probably be great for a lot of us if the series took on darker tones more often, the Eleventh Doctor is a fairy tale character, and a hero for children, both in this world and the world of Doctor Who. The Atraxi were reportedly very simple in design to make them easier for kids to draw. Amelia Pond drew pictures of the Raggedy Doctor and made papier-mache TARDISes, and the children of Trenzalore drew pictures of the Doctor with every new encounter that he triumphed in. Even Victorian Clara told the story of a man who makes sure all children can sleep at night knowing there are no Daleks under their beds; it's an extremely relatable portrayal of the children who watch the show, and it's no wonder that when Eleven regenerated, the TARDIS was filled with the colour of hundreds of children's drawings. There are kids who want to grow up and be the Doctor; there are adults that want to grow up and be the Doctor too. And the fact that these people are so often portrayed within the show just makes it more magical. It's not just a story, it's a phenomenon, that's touched the lives of so many. It's beautiful that it gives something back. What are your favourite bits of fanservice in Doctor Who? Comment below!
