Doctor Who: 10 Moments When The Fans Were Represented In The Show

2. "That Sound Brings Hope Wherever It Goes"

'The Day of the Doctor' rewarded all fans, from the Classic Series fans that had longed to see the Zygons return, to the Tennant teens, and those that protested for one more Tom Baker appearance. But amidst all the fanservice, the nods and winks, and the exploding Daleks, it was a story about one man: the biggest decision of his life. It was a celebration of what it meant to be the Doctor; when the Moment told him that the TARDIS brought hope to anyone who heard it, the War Doctor replied, "Yes. Yes I'd like to think it does." It's ambiguous about who the Moment's talking about. There are those in the world of Who that owe their lives to the Doctor, but equally, there are just those that love him. Equally, there are those of us that just love Doctor Who, too. The noise of the TARDIS is one that so many of us associate with our childhood, of fantastic escapism, and of the magic of television. We weren't forgotten in 'The Day of the Doctor' - we're never forgotten in Doctor Who - and we're just as important as any companion.
