Doctor Who: 10 Most Poetic Quotes From The Show

7. From 'The Big Bang'...

"When you wake up... I'll be a story in your head. But that's okay. We're all stories, in the end... just make it a good one, eh? Because it was. It was the best." €“ The Doctor
The whole speech at the end of 'The Big Bang' is a moving and romantic take on the entirety of Series 5; there was the Doctor, a character that Amy Pond dreamed of, approaching the end of this chapter. It's fitting that he refers to himself as a story. But the simplicity of this quote is what's quite so breathtaking. Whilst Steven Moffat could have dressed it up with elaborate language, he strips the quote down to basics. We really are all just stories, memories, and tales that are passed on to future generations; it's an extremely profound take on life to simply say, "Just make sure you're a good story." This is a man from a race of people, so determined not to die that they cling a-hold of life twelve times before going. There's something so very beautiful about this Time Lord accepting his death, and saying it's "okay" just to be a story in a little girl's head.
