8. The 10th Doctor's Console Room
Back in 2003/04 when Doctor Who was going into production of its first series, a TARDIS set was built to be a permanent fixture in its studio space. In the past TARDIS sets were constructed in a way they could be disassembled and stored. There was something of a hurdle when production had to move studios after Series 1. It would then remain intact for the remainder of Tennant's tenure in the role before being blown up several times between 'The End of Time' and 'The Eleventh Hour' and being repaired for a final appearance in 'The Doctor's Wife'. Out of the blue it was announced that the Doctor Who Experience, initially based in London before a move to Cardiff, would be boasting the Eccleston/Tennant TARDIS interior. Not a replica, the real deal! Admittedly the set was a bit rough around the edges, half of the surrounding wall was removed as was the upper ceiling section to fit in the exhibition space. Yet the set was in good enough shape for its most recent appearance in 'The Day of the Doctor'. For a set that has endured so much punishment and traveling over its 8 year life span, it's surprising that it is in as good condition as it is and is still fit for filming. The Matt Smith era set however wasn't so lucky. After simply disappearing from the series halfway through Series 7, the set could not be moved and was demolished. However the console and some walls were salvaged and restored for a photo-session at the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Celebration in London, but the future of even that part of the set remains uncertain.
