7. The Doctor Like Straight-Talking Humans But He Still Doesn't Like Soldiers
The Caretaker doesn't end with the Clara and Danny joining the Doctor on an adventure into time and space. Instead he was willing to take brash, straight-talking, and rather rude Courtney on a trip in his TARDIS instead. It says a lot about his character. He saw in Courtney a little of him; someone who certainly doesn't confirm to the rules and says it just like it is. Naturally he rewards her with a trip to the stars. Whereas Danny saves the day and doesn't get so much of a sniff of an adventure on the TARDIS. The Doctor's past actions continue to haunt him, particularly the revelations about the Time War and his own actions in The Day Of The Doctor. He doesn't like war and he doesn't like soldiers. He refused to let Journey Blue join the TARDIS in Into The Dalek despite liking her as a person. It's why he takes an instant dislike to Danny, even before he learns that he is Clara's boyfriend. We can't imagine that Courtney is going to spending any more time on the TARDIS; not after she vomited all over the floor. But we can't imagine he'll be letting Danny Pink onboard either.
