Doctor Who: 10 Things We Learned In The Caretaker

6. Danny Understands The Kind Of Man The Doctor Is

Whatever animosity the Doctor and Danny share, they both feel they understand each other. The Doctor considers Danny to be someone who will blindly follow orders, whereas the truth - as Danny reveals - is that it is Clara who he has fashioned into a willing solider. She is ready to leap into danger at the simplest demand and this is what worries Danny the most. Danny understands that the Doctor might push Clara too far. He is an 'officer' expecting his subordinates to follow his commands for the greater good. Danny worries that his girlfriend has become conditioned by her travelling companion that may lead her to complete something unethical - or worse still - lead to her death. Danny makes Clara promise that she won't be pushed too far; he will protect her, even if the Doctor won't and that may lead to a greater conflict further down the line.
