Doctor Who: 10 Times The Doctor Shouldn't Have Bothered With Mercy

9. The Doctor Keeps His Cool With The Cybermen

"Tomb of The Cybermen" is a classic in the series, nobody could ever doubt its quality, but The Doctor's show of mercy and curiosity - while so very in-character - is rather puzzling at best, and downright baffling at worst. The Cybermen are pretty cunning in this story. Their plan was to hope an expedition, with the right logical minds, were able to unlock their tomb and free them of their hibernation. Luckily for them, The Brotherhood of Logicians are on hand to help, with their leader wanting to use them to conquer Earth. Although, they would have struggled if it weren't for The Doctor helping them into the tomb itself thus endangering them all. So after more death at the hands of the Cybermen, The Doctor redeems himself by freezing them back in their tombs, despite, probably, having the option to finish them off for good. Everyone leaves as a Cybermat, unseen by everyone left, crawls back into the city.
