Doctor Who: 10 Timey-Wimey Episodes (Not Written By Steven Moffat)
7. The Girl Who Waited - Tom McRae
As a companion whose life was rife with timey-wimeyness, Amy Pond had to find her way onto this list somehow and no episode better demonstrates this than the one which borrows her nickname; Tom McRae's tear-jerking The Girl Who Waited. Landing on the planet Apalapucia (up there with Raxicoricofallapotorious as one of Doctor Who's great tongue-twisting planet names), The Doctor and Rory become separated from Amy who wanders into an alternative timeline whilst in the Two Stream Facility, a hi-tech rest home for sufferers of a rare disease. As this timeline runs faster than the normal one, the Doctor and Rory finally catch up with Mrs Williams when she is several years older, having grown bitter in her hermitude with only handbots for company. When the Doctor works out a way to get the younger Amy back, Rory has to decide which Amy he wants... With a complex plot to give Moffat himself a run for his money, The Girl Who Waited thoroughly deserves its place on this list. Fun fact, Mr McCrae's previous excursion into Doctor Who was 2006's Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel which featured a parallel world. Clearly he has a thing for alternative time streams. Maybe somewhere out there in another dimension, Tom McCrae writes Doctor Who episodes set in just one world.
